We all love eating out at restaurants. Unfortunately, most restaurants are a calorie MINEFIELD. About 98% of all meals in all restaurants are high in calories, chemicals, sugar, sodium, and all kinds of crap like that.
To make matters worse, you don’t actually KNOW what you’re eating. The nutrition information is almost never easy to find.
Luckily, weight loss tip #4 is here to save the day…
See, even if you order something that SOUNDS healthy, like a chicken sandwich, you don’t actually know if it’s REALLY healthy or not. Sure, it’s a chicken sandwich…
But you don’t know. Maybe they cooked that chicken in a whole bunch of oil. Even grilled chicken can be cooked in oil, and in that case, you have NO IDEA how much added fat is in that chicken.
Or maybe they add a half a pound of cheese to the sandwich. And what about the bread? Most of the bread you get at a restaurant is absolutely PACKED with unhealthy fats and added sugar. (A lot of times it’s the bread that gets you.)
So with that in mind, weight loss tip #4 is this: anytime you go to a restaurant, ask the waiter to put HALF of your entree in a box.
Why This Tip Is So Powerful
Every entree on the menu has about double the amount of calories you should really eat for that meal.
Ok, you get the point. Restaurant food is usually not that healthy.
And that’s why this tip is so powerful. It SAVES you from letting a single meal BLOW your diet out of the water.
Now, it’s important that you ask the waiter to box up HALF of your entree…WHILE you are ordering it. In other words, you want him or her to box up HALF of your entree…BEFORE they even bring it to you.
This way, when they bring you that chicken sandwich, half of the sandwich is on your plate…and the other half is in the box. This is the only want to really make sure you only eat half of that meal.
If you wait until the end of the meal to ask for a box…you’re going to end up eating way more than half of it.
Is Half An Entree Really Enough Food?
Now you might be thinking: is HALF of an entree really enough? Am I going to be hungry half an hour later?
Obviously it depends on the restaurant and the meal, but generally speaking, I would estimate that most restaurant meals are going to be at least 1000-1200 calories total.
So if you split that in two, that’s two meals…with 500-600 calories each.
500 to 600 calories is a decent sized meal. You’re not overdoing it, but you ARE eating enough to satisfy your hunger.
And, as a bonus…you have leftovers. You have a second meal that you can take to work, or give to the kids, or do whatever with. And because it’s half of an entree, the leftovers are ALSO a complete meal. It’s not just like a little bit of leftovers. It’s another complete meal.
So give that a try guys. It’s a great way to lose weight while still allowing yourself to eat out, see your friends, and enjoy your life the way you were meant to.
