Weight loss tip #2 is this: Stop wasting your time and your energy on weight loss strategies that barely work. This of course makes perfect sense, but it’s an easy concept to forget with all the sensational weight loss hacks you see on TV and read about in magazines.
Most of these things are legitimate weight-loss tips…they do “work,” technically speaking…but the amount of weight you can lose from these things is minimal.
A few examples include:
-
Trying to drink more water. This is super common. I’m all for water. Water is great. But unless you’re dehydrated, there’s not much value in wasting a lot of energy on water.
- Taking supplements. The right supplements can be a good way of filling in little nutritional gaps from your diet, but weight loss supplements and fat burners are almost a complete waste of time and money.
- Doing long, slow cardio. This is something many, many people do. Cardio’s great, it’s good for your heart and lungs, but the amount of calories you can burn is NOT worth the massive investment of time and energy you have to make. There are better ways to exercise AND better ways to lose weight.
Now in weight loss tip #1, you learned that your willpower and energy are limited resources.
So it only makes sense that you need to make careful use of your limited energy. And not waste it on strategies that aren’t worth your time and energy.
Take a quick look at the things you are doing to to lose weight.
Are you focusing on THE most effective strategies?
In other words: eating less calories, while still nourishing your body, and lifting weights to preserve your muscle mass?
If not, then your weight loss strategy could use an 80/20 analysis.
