Intermittent fasting has become really trendy lately…but unlike most fads, intermittent fasting isn’t just a marketing ploy.
Intermittent fasting actually WORKS…
It works for weight loss—whether you just want to lose a few pounds of if you want to get ripped. And unlike many health & fitness fads that are unhealthy and harmful for your body, intermittent fasting (IF) actually works to improve your health with some potentially huge health benefits.
What Is Intermittent Fasting?
So, what is intermittent fasting and why should you CONSIDER giving it a try?
Intermittent fasting is just what it sounds like: you fast intermittently. You just go a period of time without eating anything.
Now, there a few different styles of intermittent fasting, but that’s the main idea.
The Best Type Of Intermittent Fasting
When you are fasting, in my opinion, the best way to fast is to do a water fast.
That’s where you don’t eat any food or calories while you’re fasting. You can drink water, black coffee, tea, etc., as long as you don’t eat any calories.
Some people allow themselves a small amount of calories on a fasting day, which is better than not fasting, but in my opinion it’s not ideal, because it could cancel out some of the health benefits of fasting and autophagy.
Also, once you start eating you’re liable to actually start feeling MORE hunger than if you didn’t eat anything at all.
Intermittent Fasting = Less Hunger?
That’s one of the surprising things about fasting. You might think that going 16-24 hours or so without food would make you ravenous…but it really doesn’t.
It might take a little getting used to, but once you are used to it you’ll find that it’s really not that hard to go without food.
And that makes sense. I mean think about it. We evolved when there were periods of feast and famine. Our ancestors certainly had to go days without food sometimes. So doesn’t it make sense that our bodies would evolve to be able to handle that kind of situation?
